New service partner offers start-up recruitment services for Engine members

A hiring firm specializing in recruitment services for start-ups has joined Bioenterprise, Canada’s Food & Agri-Tech Engine, as its newest service partner.

Pivot + Edge, with virtual offices in Ottawa, Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal, helps Seed and Series-A companies attract, engage, and hire the right people for their growing businesses.

Growing up in a small southern Ontario farming community, company president John Fleischauer has first-hand knowledge of agriculture’s important role in the Canadian economy. After studying at the University of Guelph and moving to an urban area, he gathered experience working in the tech sector and became aware of the enormous potential of technology in the agriculture industry.

“Seeing the opportunities that agtech offers society is the driving force behind why partnering with Bioenterprise and helping their portfolio organizations scale up was a no-brainer for us,” he says.

According to Fleischauer, great hiring is a marketing process, and his company has developed a practical system for start-ups that he calls Inside-Out Hiring. The program is built on the premise of using a start-up’s unique story combined with an engaging hiring process focused on candidate experience to attract the right talent.

His team’s specialty is helping innovative start-ups navigate the hiring process by providing a complete fractional hiring team and recruiting infrastructure, from a careers page, talent-facing messaging and recruiting technology to internal process, hiring manager training, and hands-on hiring support.

“As a start-up ourselves, we recognize the need to scale and scale quickly with the right talent to drive your company forward,” he says. “We’re passionate about helping small businesses by connecting them with top talent that will not only fill the role but will be just as passionate about your business as you are.”

As part of the Bioenterprise partnership, Pivot + Edge will waive the first month’s retainer for any Engine members who use the company’s recruitment services.

Fleischauer has also joined Bioenterprise’s mentor network, where he offers Engine members advice on how to solve recruitment infrastructure challenges.

Bioenterprise works with various service partners who can deliver services and expertise that its members may need to accelerate their businesses and innovation projects.
