New partnership to help tell the story of agri-innovation
Guelph/Winnipeg, 20 June 2022 – Glacier FarmMedia Discovery Farm has joined Bioenterprise Canada, Canada’s Food & Agri-Tech Engine, in a new partnership that will create new opportunities to trial and showcase agricultural innovation in Canada.
The two organizations have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that will encourage knowledge-sharing and open doors for innovative start-ups, entrepreneurs, and research organizations in the food and agri-tech sector.
“Discovery Farm provides unique venues in Western and Eastern Canada for companies looking to trial their innovations through field trials and demonstration research, and we are excited to welcome them as a partner in the Engine,” says Bioenterprise Canada CEO Dave Smardon. “As our national network continues to grow across Canada, the addition of partners like Discovery Farm adds new and valuable dimensions to the services and support we are able to provide.”
Discovery Farm is a hub for demonstration research, events and knowledge transfer initiatives that support the vision of discovering practical solutions for Canadian farmers. Discovery Farm Langham in Saskatchewan is home to Ag in Motion, Western Canada’s only outdoor farm expo, as well as a site for field-scale demonstration research and industry events. Discovery Farm Woodstock in Ontario showcases farmer-led and industry-partnered research and is the permanent site of Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show, Eastern Canada’s largest outdoor farm show.
The partnership will help Discovery Farm work with Bioenterprise members to get new products to market by giving them access to land to conduct demonstration research activities, events for them to promote and demonstrate their products and knowledge transfer to equip them with the tools and channels to help amplify their messages.
“Discovery Farm provides the agricultural industry with the opportunity to ground-truth new technologies that farmers can see, touch and connect with on our site,” says Glacier FarmMedia Executive Vice-President Carla Vipond. “Our partnership with Bioenterprise creates the opportunity for ag-tech start-ups to access real farming conditions and the advice of farmers to aid in the development of agricultural innovation.”
