Bioenterprise is proud to announce that Colin Farnum, former senior director at Maple Leaf Foods, has accepted a position as chairman of the Bioenterprise Board of Directors. Farnum has a rich history with agriculture and food technology, having served as Senior Director of Science and New Technologies, as well as Technical Director of Grocery Products at Maple Leaf Foods. Farnum has also been critical in the strategic planning of Bioenterprise’s recent growth and transformation.
“As the new Chair of the Bioenterprise Board,” Farnum says, “I see our largest challenge, and therefore our largest opportunity, as one of assisting the President and staff with the transformation of the business model from a non-profit to a commercially driven model with programs and services available across the country. The Board has to serve as the strongest advocate for the role of Bioenterprise as Canada’s Food and Agri-Tech Engine.”
Farnum accepts this role at time of dynamic transformation at Bioenterprise, as it launches the first round of the SmartGrowth program, providing acceleration funds to food and agri-tech projects for scale-up in southern Ontario. Also on the horizon are a revamped website and a new model of commercial memberships that will drive further national impact and connect the ecosystem across the country.
Please join us in congratulating Colin on his position, and celebrating continued success from Bioenterprise as they continue to help food and agri-tech companies innovate and grow.
