Guelph/Vancouver, 15 March 2022 – The voice of British Columbia’s technology industry and Canada’s Food & Agri-Tech Engine are working together to advance and support agri-tech and food-tech innovation. The BC Tech Association (BC Tech) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Bioenterprise Canada to join the Engine as a Knowledge and Development Partner.

“It’s extremely encouraging to see the Engine strengthen its innovation footprint across Canada by welcoming another partner from British Columbia,” says Bioenterprise Canada CEO Dave Smardon. “At Bioenterprise Canada, we pride ourselves on our national approach to innovation, and we appreciate the willingness of organizations like the BC Tech Association to join forces with us as we work to build a world-class agri-tech and food-tech innovation network in Canada.”

By joining the Engine, BC Tech members will have access to the national Bioenterprise Canada network of mentors, experts and resources, as well as new innovation funding and partnership opportunities with organizations, start-ups and businesses across the country. For Bioenterprise, the collaboration means stronger ties to the West Coast and the ability to leverage partnerships and resources with Engine partners nationwide.

“We help technology companies in BC grow and scale, particularly through coalitions and partnerships, so we are excited to be part of Canada’s Food & Agri-Tech Engine and the national network it offers,” says Jill Tipping, CEO of BC Tech. “This collaboration will bring new opportunities to BC’s technology industry that will help our entrepreneurs, start-ups and growth-oriented businesses access the significant potential of the agri-tech and food sector in Canada.”
