Bioenterprise, Canadian Association of Farm Advisors establish partnership

For immediate release

Guelph ON/Seven Sisters Falls MB, 16 December 2021 – A new partnership has been launched between Bioenterprise, Canada’s Food & Agri-Tech Engine, and the Canadian Association of Farm Advisors (CAFA) Inc. The two organizations have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) which is expected to help advance innovation and awareness of new opportunities in the agri-food sector.

“We are excited to add Canadian farm advisors and their deep-rooted connections in Canada’s agricultural community to the Engine’s national innovation network,” says Bioenterprise CEO Dave Smardon. “Through this new partnership, farm businesses will have more awareness and greater access to the expertise and resources of the Engine, while at the same time putting the skills, knowledge and insights of farm advisors at the disposal of start-ups and growth-oriented companies.”

CAFA is a national, non-profit membership organization whose purpose is to increase the skills and knowledge of farm advisors so they can help their farm family and agribusiness clients. The organization has members from British Columbia to Prince Edward Island.

Farm advisors include accountants, lenders and other financial professionals; lawyers; insurance brokers; trust officers; realtors; agrologists; economists; educators; family therapists and others who provide professional advice and services to the farm community.

“Our members have to help guide their clients towards new opportunities, and Bioenterprise’s national innovation network is a great resource to help do that,” says Liz Robertson, CAFA Executive Director. “Innovation is so key in agriculture, and farm advisors have to stay ahead of or at least instep with what their clients are doing so this new partnership with Bioenterprise will help our members connect farm businesses with entrepreneurs and innovators.”
