Dean Prelazzi

As an Executive in Residence at Bioenterprise B.C., Dean Prelazzi supports clients by providing expert business knowledge to accelerate agri-tech companies in British Columbia. Dean brings two-decades of business experience in the tech industry to the team and will be providing companies with a variety of advisory services such as product and market validation, sales and marketing,  business development, product management, and investor readiness planning.

Dean is an entrepreneurial business leader, holding senior operating roles in the technology industry including six technology companies in Canada and the U.S. As a true champion of B.C.'s and Canada's technology sector, most recently Dean was a member of the executive team at the B.C. Innovation Council, operating as a community leader and collaborator in B.C.'s technology ecosystem. Here he was able to work closely with CEOs and founders, non-profits, and the federal and provincial governments developing and managing programs in start-up incubation and acceleration, technology commercialization, venture capital investment and innovation development.
As a founder and Managing Director of the program, Dean initiated and helped manage the expansion of the B.C. Acceleration Network and Venture Acceleration Program across B.C.  To date, over 700 companies have participated in the program and together; they've raised over $170 million in equity financing.  He also initiated and championed early support for the development of acceleration programs at Simon Fraser University, the University of British Columbia, Wavefront, the Bootup Entrepreneurial Society, and Launch Academy.  Dean has also served as BCIC's executive partner for the C100 in Silicon Valley and as past Chair of Startup Canada's B.C. steering committee.
Dean now serves on the steering committee of BCIC's Ignite technology commercialization program, is a market validation training instructor in the Venture Acceleration Program, and a market research instructor at the B.C. Institute of Technology.
He earned an Executive MBA from the University of Ottawa in 1997 specializing in high tech sales and marketing, and has widely consulted with and advised start-ups and innovation-driven companies on new product development, technology and innovation adoption, customer acquisition, partnerships, and angel and venture capital fundraising.
