VANTEC Angel Network’s Sold Out Meeting Signals Investor Appetite for Agri-Tech Sector
Vancouver, B.C. – Twenty-two agri-tech and food businesses from across British Columbia gathered in Vancouver on February 7th to pitch their innovations to a full house at VANTEC’s monthly investor meeting.
The VANTEC Angel Network meetings hear pitches from a variety of industries, but with the help of Bioenterprise B.C. and other stakeholders from the agricultural ecosystem, investors filled the room to learn more about the sector’s investment trends and hear from B.C.’s most promising start-ups in agri-tech and food.
"This was a great opportunity to showcase British Columbia's growing agri-tech and food sector," said Jessica Taylor, A/Regional Manager of Bioenterprise B.C. "The sold out audience signals that angel investors are interested in the sector and represents opportunities for new and growing companies."
The event, which took place at VentureLabs in Vancouver, highlighted global perspectives on trends and opportunities in food and agri-tech from angel, venture capital and private equity investors. Investors then heard pitches from start-ups ranging from agri-tech, precision agriculture, ag management tools and animal health, to food and food-tech.
“The event was a great success. It wouldn't have been possible without the tremendous collaboration from the sector including BC Food Processors Association, Natural Products Canada, Spring and of course the team at VANTEC,” adds Taylor.
